Instinct and Intuition: Reclaiming Deep Feminine Knowing.

In a world that prioritises logic and over-analysis, many high-achieving women find themselves disconnected from their most powerful inner resources instinct and intuition.

As a Transformational Coach integrating somatic spirituality and energetic biofield alignment, I see how this disconnection keeps even the most accomplished women stuck in cycles of overthinking, exhaustion and misalignment.

In the realms of somatic spirituality and energetic biofield alignment, the interplay between instinct and intuition is more than just a philosophical discussion it is a foundational aspect of how we navigate the world, create and lead. Understanding these two forces, refining them, and aligning them with your inner wisdom is essential for you as a women who feels called to step into your full power, in business, relationships and spiritual growth.

Refine your ability to trust both your instinctual self and your intuitive knowing, using them as a guide for deeper success, fulfilment, and ease in business and life.

The Difference Between Instinct and Intuition

Both instinct and intuition bypass the rational mind, but they arise from different sources and serve different purposes.

  • Instinct is primal, deeply rooted in the nervous system, and linked to survival. It operates through your body's somatic intelligence the signals from your gut, heart, and nervous system that tell you when something is right or wrong.

  • Intuition is a higher-order perception that taps into a broader field of intelligence, whether you see it as quantum awareness, the biofield, or the collective unconscious. It’s how you “just know” something without logical reasoning.

In my work, I help women reconnect to both instinct and intuition, allowing them to make decisions that are fully aligned with their energy, nervous system, and soul’s path.

The Science Behind Instinct and Intuition

From a neuroscientific perspective, instinct arises from the limbic system and brainstem, where survival mechanisms like fight-or-flight are housed. Research by Joseph LeDoux (1996) on fear conditioning shows how the amygdala triggers instant reactions before the conscious mind processes the information.

Intuition, on the other hand, is associated with the right hemisphere, the insula, and the heart-brain connection. Studies from the Institute of HeartMath show that the heart perceives information milliseconds before the brain, suggesting an energetic, field-based component to intuition.

Rupert Sheldrake’s morphic resonance theory supports this idea, proposing that intuition is not just personal but an ability to tap into collective memory fields, an intelligence beyond time and space.

How This Affects High-Achieving Women

If you’ve ever felt

  • Overwhelmed by decision-making, doubting your ability to choose the right path.

  • Over reliant on outside verification and endless strategies.

  • Disconnected from your body, experiencing burnout or nervous system dysregulation showing up as high functioning anxiety.

  • Stuck in cycles of overthinking instead of feeling clear and confident in your next steps

  • Like you “knew” something deep down but ignored it, only to regret it later

Then chances are you’re disconnected from your instinct and intuition.

Here’s a relatable example

One of my clients, a successful entrepreneur, struggled with the motivation needed for growing her business to the next level. Every logical strategy she tried felt forced, her body and energy field kept signaling her in another direction. She ignored it, thinking she needed more structure and discipline.

The more she pushed, the more exhausted, resentful and misaligned she became. It wasn’t until she reconnected with her instinctual knowing (somatic wisdom) and refined her intuitive perception (energetic alignment) that she found her true path forward.

She shifted from force to flow.

She stopped what she was forcing and followed her instinct and joy and through that a shift in her business from less online focus to more in person, which led to an expansion in her business, her income and also a joyful renewal of her personal relationship.

How to Strengthen Both Your Instinct and Intuition

To truly access your full range of intelligence, you need to strengthen both your instinctual self and your intuitive self.

Strengthening the Instinctual Self (Your Body’s Wisdom)

Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés speaks about reclaiming the wild, instinctual self as a path to true power. In a modern world that numbs women’s somatic wisdom, reconnecting with your body and this aspect of self is revolutionary.

Her book Women Who Run With the Wolves is a treasure trove of stories filled with archetypes and wisdom, old stories that speak to our inner knowing.

Practical Ways to Strengthen Instinct

  • Somatic Tracking Instead of dismissing discomfort, tune into bodily sensations, allow yourself to feel before making decisions. Get to know your body’s messages.

  • Nervous System Regulation Use breathwork, grounding, and movement to enhance your body’s ability to sense and respond accurately from a centered place.

  • Primal Practices Activities like wild swimming, barefoot walking, or deep primal movement and sound to help awaken your body’s original intelligence.

Strengthening the Intuitive Self (Your Energetic Knowing)

Where instinct is somatic, intuition is energetic and non-local. To access it, you must cultivate a subtle awareness beyond the five senses.

Ways to Strengthen Intuition:

  • Energetic Practices Practices like Reiki, Kundalini Yoga, subtle body activation can enhance your intuitive perception.

  • Biofield Awareness Working with your energy field through visualisation or quantum techniques helps you perceive information beyond logic.

  • Non-Doing & Presence Intuition thrives in stillness. The more you slow down and listen, the more you receive guidance effortlessly.

  • Become comfortable with not knowing, moving with trust and allowing things to unfold.

The Shadow Side of Intuition: Why Discernment is Crucial

While intuition is often romanticised as an infallible inner guidance system, depth psychologist Marie-Louise von Franz warns that intuition can be “50% right, 50% wrong.

”This is because our unconscious projections, unresolved trauma, and personal biases can distort intuitive perceptions. In Alchemy: An Introduction to the Symbolism (1980), von Franz states

“The intuitive function, though powerful, is still bound by the unconscious images and assumptions of the individual. Without discernment, what is perceived as 'guidance' may simply be the whisper of our own illusions.”

This is why deep inner work such as shadow integration, somatic attunement, and energetic clearing is essential to refine our intuitive capacities. When intuition is clouded by unprocessed emotions or belief systems inherited from family or culture, it can mislead us.

True intuitive knowing is cultivated through a process of inner refinement, where we learn to differentiate between genuine insight and the echoes of past conditioning.

Strengthening Both the Instinctual and Intuitive Self

As a high-achieving women who feels you are only scratching the surface of your potential, the key lies in activating both your instinctual intelligence and your higher intuitive perception. Here’s how

Reclaim Your Instinctual Self

  • Somatic Practices Engage in primal movement, dance, and deep breathwork to reconnect with the body’s natural intelligence.

  • Energetic Biofield Awareness Practice so you can tune into the subtle shifts in your field when making decisions. Does your energy expand or contract?

  • Wild Nature Immersion Spend time in nature to recalibrate your nervous system and restore instinctual clarity.

Refine Your Intuition Through Discernment

  • Shadow Work & Inner Inquiry Journal on how past experiences shape your intuitive responses. Are they fear-based or expansive?

  • Energetic Hygiene Clear distortions through biofield work, so intuitive insights are not tainted by residual emotional imprints.

  • Strengthen the Radiant & Subtle Body Kundalini practices and meditation increase the coherence between body, heart, and mind, allowing intuitive knowing to become clearer and more precise.

Beyond Rationality Leading with Embodied Knowing

The women I work with are not here to simply follow formulas or logic. They are visionaries, creators, and soul-led entrepreneurs who sense that their deepest collective impact comes from aligning with something beyond conventional thinking. When instinct and intuition are integrated, decision-making becomes fluid, magnetism increases, and leadership flows from an embodied sense of knowing.

Rather than seeking more external validation or strategies, the invitation is to refine the internal instrument through which you receive, discern, and act upon guidance. This is the new paradigm of feminine leadership one that is rooted in the body’s intelligence, attuned to energetic realities, and refined through deep self-awareness.

Are you ready to align with this level of embodied wisdom?

Integrating Both for a Fully Aligned Life & Business

When you master both your instinct and intuition, decision-making becomes clear, aligned, and efficient. You stop second-guessing yourself because you trust the intelligence of both your body and your biofield.

Imagine running your business from a place where you deeply trust your inner signals instead of totally outsourcing your power to external strategies. Imagine knowing exactly when to pivot, rest, or expand, not because someone told you but because your system is in full alignment.

This is exactly what I help high-achieving women cultivate through my approach that fuses somatic intelligence, energetic biofield work, and subconscious rewiring.

If you’re ready to unlock this for yourself, it starts with reconnecting to your body, nervous system, and energetic field. You already have everything you need it’s simply a matter of learning how to access it consistently.
